    Do you think it’s better for people not to read at all rather than read the popular fiction available today? Some of the nurses at work go through several books a week, but they’re either the latest spy thriller or the latest sappy romance. That kind of reading can’t really be that good for us…

  3. Not reading at all only perpetuates the fundamental poor condition of the mind in today’s culture. I agree with Spencer…read something (hopefully at least good) even if it’s popular fiction just to keep the skill alive. That is the first step to reading better material. Milk first, then meat.
